Magazine

In 1967 he moved to Rome, where he started his own art magazine, called Flash, and then changed it to Flash Art. In the mid-70s he moved to Milan and founded Giancarlo Politi Editore, publisher of art books, catalogues, and Art Diary, a directory to artists studios, art galleries, art critics and art institutions.[2]

Museum

In 1993, Giancarlo Politi, founded the Trevi Flash Art Museum. The museum has hosted several exhibitions featuring international artists, including Maurizio Cattelan, Vanessa Beecroft, Damien Hirst, Miltos Manetas, Piero Golia, Andres Serrano, Paola Pivi, Karen Kiliminik, and Mark Kostabi.

Biennale

In 2001, Giancarlo Politi started the so called "no-budget biennales". The first one was in Tirana, Albania, but then, for institutional reasons (there were conflicts with the some art institutions in Tirana), he opted for Prague. The third edition of the Prague Biennale 3 was planned for June 2007.

Personal life

Politi is married to fellow art critic Helena Kontova.[3] By now a particular story is messing up his magazine editorial offices (Flash Art), owing to the case of an intern candidate[4][5] who was mocked and offended after she has been denied a fair compensation. As, apparently, irrelevant, the episode raises some interest in Italy, due to a permanent situation of exploitation of youth work and skills of young graduates. A trial will soon take place, in order to assess and verify those facts.[6]
